Hello! Station Ep62

It’s Hello! Station time and this week has probably caused quite a lot of conversation. Not for the opening act so much though…

Although S/mileage’s take on sexy has had a few people talking too. The song and pv doesn’t do much for me although I’ve screencapped the only good bit. Takechan has grown on me. Well Takechan has grown. Somehow the tomboyish member is the only one who seems to suit the sexy outfit. Or maybe I’m just biased. Certainly she’s the only one I notice.

Anyway this week the presenter is…

The becoming-more-beautiful-by-the-day Oda Sakura! Yay!

The next segment is quite long and it’s Momusu’s dance queens Riho and Jaws…Ayumi showing off some of the moves to their next single Toki wo Koe Sora wo Koe…

vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h21m10s63 vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h21m16s152

This is followed by the dance shot pv…

vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h21m35s87 vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h21m41s147

The song is growing on me with each listen. I certainy prefer it to the other A-side Password is 0.

Up next another Oda Sakura screencap because she’s just so lovely…

And then we have a segment on C-ute’s live tour. To start off with let’s just remind ourselves of their names and ages…

vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h22m15s232 vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h22m29s126 vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h22m45s10 vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h23m00s175 vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h23m31s226

Oh look they are all over 18.

Anyway there’s lots of behind the scenes getting together and chanting, chats to camera and so on…

vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h24m03s24 vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h24m26s252

And then we get to the main talking point. A clip from their tour of the girls performing Crazy Kanzen na Otona…

vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h25m03s129 vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h25m23s73 vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h26m03s210 vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h26m27s199 vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h26m33s254 vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h26m46s128 vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h27m17s182vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h54m49s68 vlcsnap-2014-04-10-09h55m10s213

Now the main two arguments on this performance I have seen so far are “WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH IT’S DISGUSTING” and “WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH HOW DARE YOU CRITICISE THEM”. For me I don’t have a problem with the pole dancing. I see it as perhaps somewhat burlesque as opposed to the seedier stripper side of things. Also the skill level of Mai and Nacky is pretty bloody high. Especially Nacky. That girl has strong thighs. I may be in the minority in some ways though as I actually found the pv to Love Take It All worse. The ass shaking in that is very much a typical sleazy stripper type of move and it doesn’t have the skill level of pole dancing. It doesn’t have the dexterity and body strength. Plus it doesn’t look as good. That’s not to say the pv should not have been made. Who am I? Certainly not God. No it just means it wasn’t my kind of thing. This performance is much more interesting. However I can’t say it’s that good though simply because the outfits are not that good. Not as bad as the tour good towels outfits mind you. They make me cry…

Slightly messy. No neck. Nothing special.

Weird band that makes Nacky look fat. Horrible trouser suit.

Okay this works.

Nice arms. Not nice headpart. Strange sexy funeral chic like Maimi’s.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAOHMYGODICAN’TBREATHE! What the? Awful outfit and very odd expression. What exactly were they thinking? The hat would normally be easily the worst part of any other outfit and yet is the best part of this. ><

But I digress (and I’m glad I got that off my chest). The performance outfits aren’t that bad but they still look a bit tacky to me. It’s not so much the material or the shape just the overall dominatrix Gestapo vibe I think. But as to whether C-ute should be doing this type of thing at all I don’t see a problem with it. If they were doing it all the time it’d be tedious but most of C-ute’s recent output has been more like the Kokoro no Sakebi wo Uta ni Shitemita and Tokai no Hitorigurashi pv’s both of which I love. Or else it’s been subtly sexier styles like Adam to Eve no Dilemma or ballad styles like Kono Machi. If you think of the pv’s to those songs you don’t get an overly sexy mental image. So occasional songs like Love Take It All or live performances like this one in context are just rare moments in the grand scheme of things. In context C-ute are more the five young career girls of pv’s like Tokai than they are sexy dominatrixxes…dominatrii…whatever. C-ute are of course a group of many styles though and this is just another one to add to the collection. Looking at even just the last two years you don’t see a really sexy C-ute that often. They aren’t marketed on sex that much. Overall this is a group that is mostly five bright, talented young idols who are now adults and mostly have a grown-up but not overly sexual style. Sometimes they may go cuter and others sexier. It’s really no big deal. But to those that argue that Mai was once little so this is wrong (believe me people actually say that kind of thing) or to those who argue that they should go back to how they used to be I would like to point out this…

Inappropriate Thrusting Blue Jeans! The FILTH!

There’s no weekly G/rimace this week. Instead the final section is some Juice=Juice event where it’s a members birthday and…stuff…

And then it’s bye bye from the lovely Sakura.

So an interesting week. Both S/mileage and C-ute do sexy and a lot of people don’t like that. Personally neither would I if it was all the time but every now and then is okay. The thing I have taken from the show the most though is just how beautiful Aida Sakahashi…I mean Oda Takahashi…I mean Ai Saku…damn! Well Oda will grow up to be her own person I’m sure but there are similarities with Ai-chan. Oda though is getting more and more beautiful and better and better as a performer too. One day she’ll be my favourite member you know.

  1. Great post. ^^

Takechan does stand out to me too, but it’s because of her short haircut and a chubby figure (well, compared to the others). She’s growing on me though. I think.

The C-ute pole dancing outfits remind me of these, but not quite as nice: http://wp.me/a1ckQn-BN.

From what I have seen, the most common reaction to the pole dancing has been “wow, hot :D”… you didn’t mention that at all? At least my Twitter feed has been mostly full of positive comments, with the occasional unhappy reaction (mostly on YouTube). I totally agree on what you said about the PV to Love take it all. Very good point.

    • I think the outfits are very similar to the Mano ones. I think the Mano ones are a little bit nicer though.

And yes I think on Twitter there have been a lot of people surprised and impressed by Nacky and Maimai’s dexterity. XD
